Breakthrough
innovation
at scale.

Nuera RDL is an independent research lab in Colorado’s San Luis Valley. We build structural-fluidic systems for irrigation, autonomous AI that acts only within explicit rules, and tools that check whether AI outcomes are good for people. Everything we make is built to be tested in the field and reproduced.

01 / Research domains

Four research areas, each tied to a real program.

Each area has an active program behind it, so the research always has a concrete test case.

Agents

Autonomous agents

Structured decision-making, coordination, and action in changing environments.

Infrastructure

Distributed inference

Spreading computation and decisions across many agents and machines while keeping results fast, traceable, and reliable.

Engineering

Structural-fluidic systems

Physical systems in which one structure carries both load and fluid flow, starting with irrigation.

Evaluation

Reasoning-system evaluation

Controlled tests that check whether AI systems reason correctly and whether their outcomes are good for the people they affect.

02 / How we work

Whole systems, tested in real conditions.

We start from the full problem: the hardware, software, people, and field conditions a system will actually face. Programs move from architecture to prototype to field or controlled testing, and we publish what we can reproduce.

01 / Systems

Whole-system architecture

Connect components, infrastructure, software, and operating context—not isolated features.

02 / Development

Deep technical development

Advance programs through engineering and integration toward measurable performance.

03 / Validation

Evidence in the real world

Use repeatable tests and field-relevant validation, not presentation-only prototypes.

04 / Impact

Built for real use

Start with a problem people actually have, and plan the path out of the lab from day one.

03 / AI-augmented execution

A small team, amplified by purpose-built systems.

Nuera RDL is a small team that uses AI and custom-built software to take on more work than its size suggests. Automation handles repeatable tasks; people make the important calls.

Practice / 01

AI drafts, people decide

AI tools speed up drafting, coding, and analysis. Architecture choices, test results, and anything published or sent outside the lab are reviewed by a person.

Practice / 02

We follow our own rules

We build governance tools for AI that acts on its own, such as Quicksilver. The approval and review rules we design for others are the rules we work under ourselves.

04 / Project AMP

One manifold. A new way to move pressure and flow.

Project AMP (Advanced Manifold Platform) is Nuera RDL’s flagship physical research program: one manifold system that brings pressure, flow, and structure together.

AMP’s first application is irrigation. The program is in engineering and prototyping, with field validation planned in the San Luis Valley. It starts from three problems growers deal with every season.

Field challenge / 01

Soil compaction

Concentrated drive loads compact soil and pore space beneath each pass.

Field challenge / 02

Land lost to wheel tracks

Repeated tower paths create permanent corridors through production fields.

Field challenge / 03

Uneven water delivery

Uneven distribution can over-apply in some areas and under-apply in others.

Program status

Patent application in preparation.

Technical details will be published after the patent application is filed. Growers, agricultural researchers, and funders interested in field validation are welcome to get in touch.

05 / Flagship programs

Current programs.

Every program sits in one of three research pillars: physical systems, autonomous systems, and cognitive & evaluation systems.

Physical systems / Flagship

Project AMP

Structural-fluidic architectures advanced through engineering, prototyping, and physical validation.

Open source / Agentic systems

Project Forkling

A framework for distributed decision-making, orchestration, and multi-agent coordination.

Autonomous systems / Governance

Project Quicksilver

An autonomous company OS: AI agents propose actions; a deterministic kernel evaluates authority and risk.

Cognitive & evaluation / In development

Aura & WAES

Aura models what the people behind an automated system actually want, and keeps every change to that record visible. WAES is a set of evaluation suites for checking whether AI outcomes are good for the people they affect. Both are early-stage.
